Paleo Twix Bars

This recipe may seem like a lot of work, but it’s actually easy to make and so worth it! These bars really do taste like Twix, but with real ingredients and no refined sugar. Give it a try and see for yourself!



Shortbread Layer

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

Caramel Layer

  • ½ cup creamy almond butter
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt

Chocolate Layer

  • 2.8 ounce paleo dark chocolate bar
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • Flakey sea salt for topping


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Stir together the shortbread ingredients and add to the baking dish, pressing down into an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool.
  3. Stir together the ingredients for the caramel layer. Once the shortbread has cooled, pour the caramel over top and smooth down with a rubber spatula. Place in the freezer to set for about 20 minutes.
  4. Heat the dark chocolate and coconut oil together in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until melted.
  5. Pour the dark chocolate over the caramel and smooth into an even layer. Top with flakey sea salt and freeze again for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Slice into bars and enjoy!
